How to Pack the Perfect Weekend Bag

As the summer is coming to a close I realize that I’ve been on a lot of weekend or day trips. At first it was very hard for me to plan and pack for these because I’m a notorious over-packer, but eventually I got used to it and was able to really consolidate my stuff! This list works whether you’re taking a plane or a road trip!

The Essentials: No this doesn’t mean ALL of your hair products you use on the daily. This is your toothbrush, tooth paste, hair brush, and other actually necessary items you need no matter where you are.

Minimalist Make-up: This can be a tuffy but you can’t bring along the whole beauty salon. The only things I bring are mascara, concealer, eyebrown pencil, press powder, and of course maek up remover. Dependng on where you’re going though you might want to pack a couple extras like eyeliner and eyeshadow if you plan on going out. But nothing else!!

Electronics Do vs. Don’t: DO remember your phone charger! I always end up forgetting this because I’m usually using it right up until when I leave, if you have a spare prepack that one instead. Depending on where you’re going you might also want a portable charger as well if you know your won’t be back in your room for a while. It’s also a good idea to bring headphones. You never know when you might have some down time and they take up no space at all! DON’T bring your laptop. Unless this is a business trip there is no need to bring your whole laptop which will only take up space and run the risk of losing it. Instead bring a tablet if you must.

Clothing: This is the hardest part. I always find myself completely overpacking on clothes. The bst solotion to this is to look up the weather ahead of time. Pack for the weather there….not every temperature possible. I wear a comfy tee-shirt and a staple pair of bottoms, whether that be jeans or a pair of shorts. That way I can wear the shirt to bed and the bottoms will go with any outfit I bring! For a weekend trip I pack 2 shirts max, and 1 extra if I plan on hitting the town (which might also call for 1 extra bottom). Depending on where yuou’re going you might also bring a swim suit.

Shoes: This is also hard. I look at the outfits I’ve packed and wear a pair of shoes that goes with all of them. That way I only need to pack a pair if I’m going out (Dressy pair) or doing something active like hiking (Sneakers).

Leave it at Home: All shampoo and bath products. Unless it is something you literally cannot go without, leave it at home. Odds are the hotel you’re staying at or your friend’s house has shampoo you can use. So don’t waste the extra bag space.

My go to bag when I go on small trips is my Nike bag here is one very similar to mine. Great for travel!

  1. Thanks for some other great article. Where else could anyone get that kind of information in such an ideal approach of writing? I’ve a presentation subsequent week, and I’m at the look for such information.

    • Hey Sallie! Glad you liked it! Not sure who else has a post like this but I’m sure other travel blogs have something similar, good luck!
